Its been fun figuring out my own spin on portraiture. I’ve been adding more animals real and imagined. Rather than worrying about getting an image to look exactly like the person, I hope I can catch a little bit of their spirit instead. These commissions were so different and definitely a breath of fresh air.

My Latest Babies
My Lasso the Moon was such a joy to create. It was a piece that didn’t fight me at all, it just felt like it manifested in front of me. I stared at it for hours before taking it to the gallery, which was good because it sold pretty quickly before I could see her displayed. Another special thing happened because of this piece, a singer/songwriter wrote a beautiful song inspired by this painting that is an absolute treasure to me. I’ll just hint at that here until I can post the song in all its glory. I’m pretty excited about it..
Another Buffalo piece! I just can’t seem to paint enough of these stormy skyscapes with the constellation maps and the bison. This is The Sound of Thunder No 3

The Cotton Candy Machine at FICE
Look who I got to see in Salt Lake City! The beautiful, talented and world famous Tara McPherson. I fell in love with these two prints and had to add them to my collection. The Crystal Waterfall print on the left was on the cover of High Fructose Magazine in January (w-o-w). The piece on the right is entitled A Tiny Universe Created in Every Tear Drop – gah I really gravitated to that and had to have it. Tara and my buddy Sean have the most beautiful little family. It was fun to catch up with such cool people and see their darling little boys.
Also can we take a second to appreciate one of the gems of Salt Lake City.. FICE is a pretty rad boutique and art gallery down town where I’ve been to several gallery strolls and has this gorgeous mural by El Mac. This is Lilah and I a few weeks ago appreciating the awesomeness.
When Something Cuts to the Core

Detail // Wonder RisingI can’t put into words how much it meant to me to hear that my little piece Wonder Rising was sent to live in the Palm Springs Police Department where they fight internet crimes against children. The detective said that she wanted to look at something that gave her comfort and joy since she is confronted with so many horrific images daily. This is work that I’ve always felt to be incredibly important and this really humbled me.
God bless these people that are in the trenches everyday fighting this battle. I would never have the strength. In fact sometimes I think we don’t like to think about things like this because if you realize the evil that is being done it is hard to even comprehend. It cuts me to my core. If you’re interested in joining this fight, there is an amazing local group called OUR RESCUE. These people physically go in and rescue children that are caught up in sex trafficking. There is another organization The Child Rescue Coalition that deals with aggressively stopping the trading of Child pornography online.
Thank you, thank you to these people, they are the TRUE HEROS in this world. There is no cause more worthy of our attention than that of helping stop the harm being done to these precious children all over the world. Please don’t turn a blind eye do what you can by becoming aware and supporting causes like this. #jointhefight #OURrescue #Freedom4All #stopchildabuse #protecttheinnocent
The Sound of Thunder
Some paintings are just extra special. This piece felt like opening a door to a new place. A place charged with something exciting and ominous, like when there is a storm coming and you can feel the energy in the air right before the thunder roars.

Off to the Gallery
I have been painting up a storm in my studio and am ready to take some new work out to Silver Queen Gallery in Park City. Its always hard to say goodbye.
It’s funny how the subjects and energy in my pieces can change but always still feel like part of the same family. The colors, animals and energy is very affected by the things I’m experiencing at the time. The books I read and music I listen to can impact my work immensely. For example, I just finished the (Pulitzer Prize -winning) novel Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. It’s the only novel I’ve read in the Western genre but I really connected to it, it’s beautiful and terrible. Being just under 900 pages, it took me a few months to get through, but wow it haunted me for ages afterwards. Images of buffalo, and the shadows of the people that came before me, the harshness, grit, simplicity, and resilience of the human spirit… all that energy has found it’s way into my work. It makes me feel more connected to the ghosts of those people who forged out West that lead to my existence today. Park City with its old mining roots seem like just the place for these to be.
Now Showing in The Silver Queen Fine Art Gallery
Between the beautiful mountains and ski resorts, the world renowned Sundance Film Festival, and historic Main Street with its array of Art Galleries, Park City is easily one of my favorite cities on the planet. I was lucky enough to grow up snowboarding in those mountains and was able to enjoy all that the city has to offer as I live an hour away. I have always dreamed of having my artwork in one of the distinguished galleries. I am so excited to say that I will now be showing my artwork at the Silver Queen Gallery! The gallery in on historic Main street and run by lovely people. I can’t wait to get started.
